Supporters group

Background

Bingham Bowling Club (Bowling Club) is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC). We are not a charity who have to register with the Charity Commission and HMRC. As a CASC we must register with HMRC and a couple of key benefits of this are: a mandatory 80% relief from business rates and exemption from corporation tax. Therefore, in 2023 we needed to make some structural changes to our organization, a rewrite of our constitution and a new constitution for what we are calling Bingham Bowling Club Supporters’ Group plus an Affiliation Agreement between the two.

The Bingham Bowling Club – Supporters’ Group (Supporters’ Group) was established for the sole purpose of providing support to the Bowling Club. The Supporters’ Group is unincorporated and does not employ staff or enter into contracts.

The Supporters’ Group shall comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards, and with the policies of the Bowling Club including doing anything necessary in order for the Bowling Club to meet the requirements of section 62 – 64 of the Licensing Act 2003. To the extent that the Bowling Club and the Supporters’ Group share data, both parties shall comply with the terms of the Data Protection Act.

The categories of membership and privileges of the Supporters’ Group are the same as those set out in the Bowling Club constitution. The Supporters’ Group will collect members’ subscriptions which will be paid into the Supporters’ Group bank account and will then be paid in full to the Bowling Club in recognition for the privileges afforded to that membership category.

Any fundraising income generated by the Supporters’ Group may be donated to the Bowling Club.

The Supporters’ Group will on request make available any records, papers, and information, and provide copies of agendas and minutes of all meetings to the Bowling Club.

Activities

We have a very active social side to the club and through the Supporters’ Club provide a variety of events throughout the year.

During the bowling season the main focus is to provide refreshments for bowling events especially the 2-4-2 Open Day and the August Bank Holiday Open Day.

We have a very busy winter program of social events, including regular American Dominoes, Quiz and Bingo nights, monthly coffee mornings and talks on a variety of topics e.g. Military Dogs and the R.A.F.

There is a fully stocked bar providing beers, lagers, spirits, wines and soft drinks at a very competitive price. We have an excellent supplier in Greene King and the bar is run by the Bowling Club’s House Manager Robert Leadenham and his team.

Club members may request use of the Dovecote facilities for their own functions eg birthdays or wakes.

For Summer and Winter opening times and dates/times of events please look at the diary page of this website
